Dr Russell Taylor: VAWZ Chairman
Dr Russell Taylor is an agriculturist by training and began his career as an agricultural extension officer working in Zimbabwe’s south east lowveld. This was followed by some 14 years working for National Parks in Matusadona on Lake Kariba where he completed his PhD on the population ecology of buffalo.
Russell joined WWF in 1988 during which time he became Conservation Director for its Southern Africa Regional Programme Office in Harare. Still with WWF, he is presently a Trans-boundary Conservation Adviser working primarily within the five KAZA TFCA Partner States of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
His involvement in veterinary matters stems from a long-term interest in animal disease at a population level, and in particular at the wildlife-livestock interface. With a strong interest in bird dogs, he also concerned with the wellbeing and health of individual animals and is pleased to be associated with VAWZ.
