Dr Chris M Foggin BVSc MRCVS DPhil: Veterinarian, Founder Member of Executive Committee and Management Team Member

“I assisted in forming VAWZ because I believe that veterinarians should play a much greater role in promoting animal welfare.”

Dr Foggin was born in Zimbabwe and graduated from the Onderstepoort Faculty of Veterinary Science, South Africa, in 1970. After five years in private practice he joined the Department of Veterinary Services and was with them for 36 years, the last 23 of which he ran the Wildlife Veterinary Unit.

He ‘retired’ in 2012 and joined the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust where he is responsible for the Animal Diseases and Wildlife Crime Laboratory and other veterinary matters pertaining to the Trust. He founded VAWZ in 2010, together with Drs Ant and Helene Donohoe (Kamfinsa Veterinary Surgery), Zimbabwean animal welfare icon Meryl Harrison (ex ZNSPCA), and Dr Russell Taylor.
